Job Title:   Refrigeration Engineer III

Reports To:   Engineering Manager

Job Description:

Primary responsibilities include project management, designing refrigeration systems, component analysis, creating refrigeration schematics and support of manufacturing functions. The applicant must be able to communicate effectively, manage multiple complex projects under tight timetables and quickly turn refrigeration concepts into functioning system in an innovative manner demonstrating a high degree of creativity in solving complex engineering problems with simple, clean solutions. Applicant must be able to leverage expertise in known control strategies to solve complex technical problems, ensuring successful delivery of high quality products to market in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner. The Refrigeration Engineer will work with Production to assist in testing and performing root cause analysis to troubleshoot unit issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage new projects from the conceptual stage through release to production, coordinating engineering, drafting, purchasing, manufacturing and quality activities.
    • Research, design, and direct all efforts relative to the refrigeration requirements of products, systems applications, as well as test and manufacturing equipment.
    • Generate and maintain refrigeration designs for chillers and heat exchangers including schematics, refrigeration systems layout and modifications and CAD drawings.
    • Provide technical assistance to manufacturing, test, troubleshooting and service personnel.
    • Develop and execute verification testing methodology for all systems, subsystems and components.  Establish manufacturing readiness by ensuring all mechanical systems function as designed during the build/test cycles.
    • Assist test personnel with completing test procedures for units.
    • Identify issues for new and existing test procedures.
    • Root cause mechanical, refrigeration and electrical issues for units.
    • Create and maintain part numbers and bills of materials in Oracle.
    • Communicate effectively with engineering, suppliers, salespeople, manufacturing and other departments.
    • Apply engineering principals as needed.
    • Must be knowledgeable in the effective use of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools and concepts to assist in process
    • Improvements, both within Lydall, and externally at our customers/suppliers. Serve as an active participant in
    • LSS programs that promote continuous improvement.
    • All other duties as assigned.
    • Must adhere to all company policies and safety rules.
    • Must be able to work extended hours when required

Minimum Education, Experience, and/or Skills Required:

    • High School diploma required. Bachelors degree (BSME) required.
    • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Adobe).
    • Ability to read schematics and logic diagrams.
    • Refrigeration systems knowledge, including a minimum of 10 years experience with refrigeration systems.
    • Mechanical and electrical systems knowledge preferred.
    • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma Principles.
    • Experience in utilizing project management, planning and quality tools, such as MS Project.
    • Experience with Oracle (or other MRP systems).
